Rockstar Games is famous for telling you almost nothing about what it's plans are, yet Grand Theft Auto VI keeps turning up on magazine covers. The newest is Edge, whose Christmas issue gives the game a gatefold cover, a 16-page report and a fresh set of interviews from inside Rockstar North.
The details come from Edge's publisher GamesRadar+. Issue #430, the Christmas 2026 special, stars Grand Theft Auto across a sprawling 16-page feature with exclusive interviews with Rockstar staff and bespoke screenshots made for the piece. The cover is a double-sided gatefold showing protagonists Jason and Lucia, with Edge staff traveling to Rockstar North to report it.
The full story goes online on October 29 with digital access free to any and all.
Edge is a long-running UK magazine known for having serious, analytical features, so a 16-page package, a collectible gatefold cover and confirmed travel to the studio suggest real access at the sharp end of the marketing push. At sixteen pages it even runs a little longer than Game Informer's recent cover story.
Edge is only the latest. For a studio that usually stays silent, Rockstar has handed out a run of controlled exclusives in the final stretch, each one adding something new, and we have covered most of them.
What Rockstar's GTA 6 magazine exclusives have revealed
Outlet | What we learned |
|---|---|
Game Informer, issue 382 | Leonida's dynamic weather and storms, 170-plus wildlife species, Florida research trips and 12 screenshots |
LOVE, issue 27 | How Rockstar wrote Jason, Lucia and Raul, plus its pedestrian dialogue and satire |
Dazed | New cover art and screenshots, development pressure and the team's growth since Red Dead Redemption 2 |
Bloomberg Businessweek | The eight-year development, the leadership changes and the record budget |
Edge, issue 430 | A 16-page Rockstar North report and bespoke screenshots, online October 29 |
Rockstar is opening up outlet by outlet, with Edge the longest look yet.
No two of them cover the same ground. Game Informer went deep on the world and its systems, LOVE on the characters and writing, Dazed on the look and the pressure of making it. Edge, by reputation, will dig into how it was built.
The run adds up to a deliberate reveal. Fresh screenshots and on-the-record interviews with Rockstar leadership are rare and precious after more than a decade of silence. They tend to surface details about the systems, characters and world-building that the trailers never show. The magazine format also hands collectors something physical and gives the community new material to pick apart between official drops.
When Rockstar lets Edge travel to Rockstar North for sixteen pages, the curtain is properly up.
After years of saying nothing, the studio is spending the final weeks letting the right outlets look inside.
